Entry requirements

To start CIMA's CGMA Professional Management Level you'll first need to pass the CGMA Professional Operational Level. Unless you are exempt, you also will need to complete your CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.

CIMA's CGMA Management level teaches you how to translate long-term decisions into medium-term plans. You'll also learn how to manage companies, from internal and external contexts.

Final exams

There are three Objective Test subjects and one Case Study that make up this level. Once you have passed all your Professional Management exams, you can then move on to the final level in CIMA's CGMA Professional qualification: Strategic.

The three objective tests are computer-based and are 90 minutes each. You can take them in any order and at any time of the year. All three of these tests are marked by a computer. You can view CIMA's exam timetable on the official website.

This Case Study exam is 3 hours long and computer-based. You can sit this exam in four windows throughout the year (February, May, August, and November) and it will be marked by a human. Learners can view their results 6 - 8 weeks after the close of the exam window.

The Case Study exam is based on a pre-seen. This will be released approximately 7 weeks before the exam window and is valid for two sittings. For example, one pre-seen for May and August and another for November and February.

How long does it take to pass CIMA's CGMA Professional Management Level?

It takes most learners 12 months to complete CIMA's CGMA Management Level. After you pass this level, you will receive your CIMA Advanced Diploma. Note this timeframe can vary depending on the hours you dedicate to studying for your course.

Exams and sittings

CIMA's Certificate in Business Accounting assessments are on demand objective tests which can be sat at any time throughout the year. You can sit these in any order but you must have completed all 4 assessments before you can move on to the Professional Qualification. The exams are 2 hours long and are computer based. At the end of the exam you will be given a provisional pass/fail result which will then be confirmed on your MY CIMA account within 48 hours.

How much it costs to deliver your study materials and how long it takes depends on where in the world you live.

Delivery fees are as follows:

Rest of Asia/America - $47
All other countries - €40

Please note that due to varying interpretations of the post-Brexit EU/UK trading agreement, some EU countries are imposing import duty on the value of the goods received from the UK.
