What do you learn with the ACCA Strategic Professional?
The ACCA Strategic Professional Certificate is the most advanced ACCA level and explores a range of advanced techniques and skills.
As the most advanced level in the ACCA qualification, our ACCA Strategic Professional courses will equip you with a variety of advanced skills and techniques. You’ll also acquire working knowledge of the professional ethics used by senior-level accountants and consultants within their day-to-day roles.
Entry requirements
To begin studying for your strategic professional by ACCA, you first need to complete the previous two ACCA levels: Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills, or have been awarded exemptions from these levels.

Modules and syllabus
The ACCA Strategic Professional consists of six subjects. To complete this level, you need to sit four of these exams, plus one separate Ethics and Professional Skills module. It takes learners around 12 to 18 months to complete their ACCA Strategic Professional.
ACCA advise that learners sit their Ethics and Professional Skills module before any other exams for their Strategic Professional. This is because statistics show those who do so have an increased chance of passing their exams.
There are two essential and mandatory subjects at this level: Strategic Business Leader (SBL) and Strategic Business Reporting (SBR). You can then choose from two optional modules from the following: Advanced Financial Management (AFM), Advanced Performance Management (APM), Advanced Taxation (ATX) and Advanced Audit & Assurance (AAA).

ACCA Strategic Professional exams
There are four exam sittings a year for this level, which are all computer-based. You can sit a maximum of four exams in each session, with a maximum of eight exams each year. Learners need to book their ACCA Strategic Professional exams directly with ACCA. Note that exam fees are not included in the cost of Kaplan’s ACCA online courses.

Exams for Strategic Professional subjects are paper-based and should be booked with ACCA directly.

How long does it take to pass?
Most students complete this level within 12 to 18 months, however this varies and will depend on how quickly you want to complete the course. Strategic Professional exams have specific sitting dates - the exam timetable can be found on the ACCA Global website launch.

Live Online learners will receive printed and online study materials. OnDemand learners will receive digital materials but are able to purchase hard copy materials from our bookshop.

Knowledge checks
As you go along, knowledge checks help assess your understanding of a topic before you move onto the next one.
Mock exam
Practice your exam technique with a mock exam, which replicates the format of the final exam, so you can check your progress. Mock exams are human marked with feedback provided directly to you. For SBL there will be 4 mock exams. All SBL courses provide an online debrief so you can understand the answer and improve your own.
Consolidation test
A short test of written questions you complete part way through tuition (two tests for Strategic Business Leader (SBL)).
Progress tests
An exam style assessment sat at the end of tuition (Knowledge and Application for OnDemand). Human marked with feedback provided directly to you. (SBL does not have a progress test, but extra mock exams instead.)
Revision Question Debriefs and Walkthroughs
Videos that walk you through an answer to an exam-standard question highlighting the correct approach to the question and how you could score marks.

Pre-exam workshop
Our pre-exam workshop offers the opportunity for focussed guidance from expert tutors to get you exam ready. The workshops will be tailored to those learners who attend to make sure everyone gets the most benefit from the session, but will include:
- the essentials of exam technique such as presentation, time management, and CBE software
- question debriefs and marked feedback
- suggestions of additional questions to attempt based on common weak areas
- additional tuition on tricky topic areas
- the opportunity to discuss any final questions with your tutor and peers.
For a live online course your answers are submitted in advance of the session. You get valuable exam style question practice at a crucial point in your study journey.
(SBL is slightly different from the other subjects at this level as the question-based approach described above, using the final mock. It is attempted and submitted in advance, and then reviewed in the final session.)
