About ACA Professional
Entry requirements
It's recommended that you pass the ACA Certificate exams to progress onto this level.
If you're a graduate, you may be able to apply for up to eight subject credits. If you're an AAT student who has completed level 3 and level 4, you may be able to apply for five subject credits. You can check your recommended entry point using the ICAEW's CPL guidance.
The official ICAEW website has more information about exemptions and credits for prior learning for those completing their ACA Professional qualification.

Examinations
Our assessment strategy is designed to gradually build your skills and confidence, ensuring you're well-prepared for the six computer-based exams.The Assurance, Risk and Reporting and Tax Compliance and Planning exams will each have a duration of three hours. The remaining four are 2 hours 30 minutes long. The pass mark for these exams is 55%. You can take the exams in any order.
Six-monthly reviews
As per the ACA Professional training agreement, you must also have a regular review with your employer every six months. These meetings can be used to track your progress at this level, as well as discuss any practical work experience and upcoming exams.
How long does it take to complete your ACA Professional?
Most students complete this level within 12-18 months.

Go into your ACA exams prepared to succeed with regular testing throughout your course. Mock exams and practice assessments have been proven to increase the likelihood of passing your ACA Professional first time, and learners can test their knowledge at multiple points in their learning journey:
- Knowledge checks: Short tasks set on MyKaplan, incorporating AI feedback, designed to check understanding during the knowledge phase.
- Progress tests: Exam-style tests check your progress of the syllabus before you sit your mock exams. Progress tests are marked internally by Kaplan so you can see your areas of improvement.
