Suspension of classroom courses and alternative arrangements

"Will I still be able to study if the situation gets worse?"

Our Academic Support team is already based remotely and they will continue to offer our services as they do currently. Also, we have plans in place for incidents such as these where student services might have to work remotely so you can still get non-academic support if needed. Access to MyKaplan means that wherever you are, you have access to your study resources and classroom courses have already been moved to our virtual classroom - our Live Online courses.

Accessing study materials

"How will I get access to my materials if deliveries are interrupted"

As an online retailer, our publishing and warehouse team are continuing to operate.

We have prioritised those courses which start first.

Some courses may start without hard copy materials having arrived if couriers face disruption. In the meantime, all online versions of the study materials are available for students to access on MyKaplan. Do also remember that you can access your materials on an iPhone, iPad and Android devices even when you are offline via the Brightspace Pulse App. Please find details on how to use this here.

Institute exam date updates

"What is the latest on the exam dates for the qualification I am studying and does this have an impact on my course dates?"

IMPORTANT: If you are a sponsored student we will liaise with your employer regarding which of the course options below they wish you to do. You will then be sent an updated enrolment confirmation.

Covid-19 and the May 2020 Management Level Case Study Exam

Candidates should approach the examination questions on the basis of the information that was provided in the pre-seen, which was written before the lockdown and so does not refer to it. The variants were also written on the basis established in the pre-seen, with a hotel group operating on a “business as usual” basis.

As always, marks will be awarded for valid arguments that are relevant to the question. Answers that make relevant references to the lockdown will, of course, be marked on their merits. In most cases, however, candidates may find it unhelpful to assume that there are significant travel restrictions and associated closures of leisure activities. We would not recommend that candidates should try to add additional complications to their study by trying to include information on the virus as it is very much a live and unknown situation.

To be clear, candidates who fail to address the requirements by arguing that the hotels will be closed or that customers will be forbidden to travel are unlikely to receive any credit.

Exam scheduling: Scheduling for all remote testing through OnVUE exams is targeted to open on 22nd April 2020. You can book your exam in the usual way through My CIMA. This applies to Certificate of Business Accounting, Professional Qualification, and UK Apprenticeships. If you have an existing booking for a test-centre based exam you will need to cancel this, get a full refund and then schedule your new exam.

Important: Before booking we recommend you test the equipment you plan to take your exams on with a system test here. You must do a system test before your exams so please check this out as soon as you can, before you schedule.

The exam format will stay the same, but the presentation is very slightly different. Take a look at one of the new practice tests (please note: you will need to sign in or create an account and then you can select the free practice test).

CIMA has added more FAQs including technical specifications, room requirements, how to test your computer and more.

CIMA will be using Pearson’s OnVUE system for the objective tests. For more information watch this short video (note: a proctor is the same as an invigilator)
